Acne Scars –

Unfair as it may be, severe cystic acne during the teen years may leave some individuals with deeply scarred skin, but living with acne scars is not the only option. Once active acne has subsided, the appearance of acne scars can be diminished, and clear, smooth skin can be a reality. Although acne scars can be treated with dermabrasion, chemical peels, punch techniques or traditional laser therapy, all of these methods work by removing the top layer of skin. These treatments are all very effective for reducing acne scars, but they can be painful and do involve a longer recovery period. Dr. Walton may recommend laser treatment after meeting with the patient and discussing treatment goals and expected outcomes.

FILLERS: Juvederm or Bellafill

If you have just a few, shallow depressed acne or even chickenpox scars, then simply filling the dermis (the deeper skin layer) with natural hyaluronic acid filler will give you instant results!

LASER SKIN RESURFACING

This is the Cadillac of approaches to acne scarring.  It works by thickening the scar-damaged skin back to normal depth and adding elastic tissue to elevate the scars to the surface.  1 to 3 treatments required depending on nature of scars.
